A SPECTACULAR HELICOPTER TOUR IN BANFF

A SPECTACULAR HELICOPTER TOUR IN BANFF

The only way to appreciate the beauty of stunning landscapes such as the Rocky Mountains and Banff is from the air.

Although hiking in the mountains, taking a dog-sled tour, or driving up to lookouts may offer spectacular views, it’s only from a helicopter that you can see the incredible Rocky Mountains.

Our pilot, Ralph Sliger from Rockies Heli Canada, met us for one of their Banff Helicopter Tours. It was a clear winter morning, and we were looking forward to the most spectacular helicopter tour we’d ever taken.

Banff Helicopter Tours with Rockies Heli

Heli Tours is just one hour from Calgary and a short drive from Canmore and Banff. Heli Tours is the best helicopter tour company in Alberta.

To see famous peaks such as Mt. Assiniboine and Mount Lougheed are just a few of the many attractions we visited. We also had the bonus of landing on a mountain outside the park to snowshoe in places no one else would dare to.

With headsets and bubble windows, the helicopter offers excellent views of the Rockies. We recommend a helicopter tour as one of Banff’s best things to do. Check out other activities!

Seeing that our final day was the clearest of all our trips was terrific. The sky was blue, with just enough clouds to make the scene. It was our last day at Banff, so we stopped to catch our flight with Rockies Heli on the way to the airport.

After passing our safety check and being weighed, we were taken to the helicopter. We were then strapped into our headsets and ready to talk with each other.

Dave was able to grab the front seat, giving him a great vantage point. However, my view from the back was just as spectacular.

I could see from both sides and ahead of me as the bubble windows bulged enough to see past the helicopter’s side.

I could see so many sights that I could have flown through the air for hours: Spray Lake, incredible glaciers, and endless mountains. The glaciers were what stole my breath.

Ralph flew so close that it felt like we could touch the mountains. I could see into the crevices in the mountainside. A helicopter tour is unique in that each one is different. We planned to fly over Banff National Park initially, but the low clouds made it impossible. These Most Beautiful National Parks in Canada

Rocky Mountains covered in clouds.

It didn’t bother me that we couldn’t land because the views of the mountains rising from the tops of the clouds were breathtaking.

What is the Helicopter Tour in Banff?

The flight took approximately 45 minutes and combined two of RockiesHeli’s most popular tours, the Ultimate Alpine Glacier Tour & Grand Rocky Mountain Tour.

We were comfortable, safe, and well-fed during the flight. Soon, it was time for us to face the elements.

Snowshoe Exclusive in The Rocky Mountains

Our second tour took us up a peak, where we landed high above the mountain outside Banff National Park. We anchored outside Banff because helicopters are prohibited within the park’s boundaries. We donned our snowshoes and began a 30-minute hike through the forest.

Ralph showed us different perspectives on the Rockies and pointed out animal tracks while we hiked. It was an enjoyable walk through the woods, crossing a few logs and making new tracks.

Hot Toddy on The Trail

We stopped for Baileys and hot chocolate. This was the perfect spot. The most stunning landscape was revealed before our eyes when the clouds parted.

Although we could have used blankets if we wanted, our bodies were pumping from the hike, and we felt comfortable while we admired Mother Nature’s best work. It was a fantastic feeling to be at the summit of a mountain in such a quiet spot.
