BEAUTIFUL BEACHES IN THAILAND – TO ENGAGE YOUR WANDERLUST
Thailand was the first place we visited when we started our journeys twenty years ago. We still dream of Thailand as the Land of Smiles. I feel nostalgic as I compile this list of the top beaches in Thailand.
I’ve been looking through our scrapbooks and reading old journals. My wanderlust is sparked as I recall old memories.
Best Beaches In Thailand
The most beautiful islands of the world are found in Thailand. You will find many islands in the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, and throughout the South of Thailand. A Thai holiday is memorable because of the white sand beaches, crystal clear water, and limestone sea cliffs.
Railay Beach, Krabi
Railay is one of our favorite beaches in the country. It’s where we started rock climbing back in 2000. We were drawn to the limestone cliffs, but the beach kept us coming back. Railay’s stunning stretch of sand, framed by huge seacliffs, is breathtaking. Railay Beach can be reached only by long-tail boats. Although it is not on an island, it can be contacted via a long-tail boat. The ship we first saw was from Krabi Town. However, you can also make short trips from Ao Nang.
Railay has four beaches you can explore, including Phra Nang Cave Beach and Railay Beach. Ton Sai Beach is a popular choice for rock climbers. Railay East has great beginner routes. They can all be reached by walking through the jungle at low tide.
Phra Nang Beach, Krabi
Walking through Railay’s jungle trail for the first time was something I will never forget. As monkeys swarmed overhead, we walked along limestone overhangs from Railay to Phra Nang Cave Beach. Phra Nang Beach has been voted one of the best beaches in the world. It is a paradise for those who love white sand, perfect karst islands, and sea caves.
The beach is crowded with daytrippers from Ao Nang or Krabi Town. But you can truly enjoy it by staying on Railay. It was empty when we first visited it 20 years ago. Tourists now overrun it during the day, but you can still enjoy the sunrise here if you live nearby.
Railay: Where to Stay
- Railay Bay Resort & Spa – We’ve stayed there a few times and love its location. There are always up-and-down reviews, so we must figure out what the future holds.
- Sand Sea Resort We have stayed at this beach bungalow, a great location. On the beach.
- Diamond Cave Resort & Spa I can recall spending a night in Diamond Cave and then swimming in the pool at the bottom of the diamond cave cliff. Gorgeous!
How to get to Krabi From Bangkok
Daily flights depart Bangkok and arrive at Krabi Airport. You can take a long-tail boat from Krabi to Railay or a bus to Ao Nang.
Koh Phi Phi Islands – Krabi
Koh Phi Phi is the beach that attracted the most international attention in Thailand. It’s not hard to see why. The perfect horseshoe beach was the result of a long journey. The ideal horseshoe bay was lined with the purest white sand I have ever seen. Although it is pretty crowded, this beach is still beautiful.
Laem Thong Beach, Krabi
Laem Thong Beach, a quiet beach of white sand on Koh Phi Phi Don, is ideal for kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving. A day trip can be taken to the nearby Bamboo and Mosquito islands.
Maya Bay Koh Phi Phi Leh – Krabi
To explore the National Park and Maya Bay, take a day trip to Koh Phi Phi Leh. Maya Bay was still open to tourists when we had the opportunity to visit it. This beach is renowned for its beautiful white sand and crystal-clear waters. There are palm trees along the shore. It is no surprise that the Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio was shot there. It is within the National Park. When it reopens, tourism will be restricted, and there will be an entrance fee to the National Park.
Where to Stay in Phi Phi

Sunset Beach – Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe is one of our favorite beaches. It is the southernmost Island and less touristy than Krabi. Lipe is great for chilling out and enjoying a few hours on the beach. Sunset Beach is located on the opposite shore of Sunrise Beach and away from busy Pattaya Beach, where you will be coming in. Sunset Beach is the best place to see the sunset and the most peaceful spot on the Island.
How to get to Koh Lipe From Bangkok
Fly into Hat Yai, then transfer to Koh Lipe by ferry.
- Serendipity Beach Resort is located at the south end of Sunrise Beach and offers one of the most beautiful sunrise views.
Kata Beach – Phuket
We didn’t like Phuket when we first went there. After taking a Muay Thai kickboxing class, we fell in LOVE with Thailand’s largest Island. You can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Thailand by renting a motorcycle or hiring a tuk-tuk.
Patong is Phuket’s main town. There is also a busy beach there. We recommend that you get out of Patong to go to Kata Beach. It boasts beautiful beaches and calm waters.

Kata Noi Beach – Phuket
A bit further south lies the more laid-back Kata Noi Beach. It’s also known as Little Kata Beach. This is a great day trip from Phuket. There are many luxury accommodations available in Kata Noi. These include The Shore At Kata Noi, an all-adult luxury resort.
Karon Beach – Phuket
Karon Beach is a massive 5km long beach of white sand in Phuket. It is located just north of Kata Beach and is the quieter of both. It is famous for its turtle hatching and attracts windsurfers. This beach has many options for accommodation.

Long Beach – Koh Lanta
One of our many trips saw us spend a lot of time relaxing on the beaches at Koh Lanta. Long Beach is the longest beach on Koh Lanta. It was 4km (2.4 miles) long and perfect for morning walks. Long Beach is connected to Klong Dao Beach. This beautiful beach in Thailand has many options for backpackers and places to drink Singha Beer and enjoy the stars.
Kantiang Beach – Koh Lanta
Kantiang Beach is located at the southern tip of Koh Lanta. It has a mile of white sands surrounded by clear blue water and rainforest. This is a peaceful place where you can relax with a Chang Beer or enjoy a traditional Thai massage beneath the palm trees. It offers yoga classes and has 2 km of silky sand. This is an excellent spot for a morning stroll.
Sai Kaew Beach – Koh Samet
Hat Sai Kaew Beach, also known as White Sand Beach, is the most extensive beach in Koh Samet. You can find it right by the ferry when you arrive at Koh Samet. This will put you right in the middle of the action, so stay there. It is 1km long and has excellent and large dimensions.
Klong Kloi Beach – Koh Chang
Klong Kloi Beach in Koh Chang, also known as Bangbao Beach, is just 1 hour from Bangkok. There are many beaches on the Island, some busier than others.
Chaweng Beach – Koh Samui
Koh Samui, one of the first islands on the gulf coast of Thailand to see an influx of tourists, is also the largest gulf island with many beaches.
Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui’s most famous beach, is for a good reason. It’s a large expanse of white sand. It is so vast that it can be broken down into four sections: North, Central, and South, as well as Little. (Chaweng Noi). This is where you will find the best places to stay if you want to live in the middle of all the action.
Thongtakian Beach, Koh Samui
Thongtakian Beach, Koh Samui, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. It is a great place to take photos with the boulders scattered throughout the beach. The waters are clear and calm.
Lamai Beach – Koh Samui
Lamai Beach is second only to Chaweng Beach but is quieter. It is now more popular as it attracts a younger and more relaxed crowd than Chaweng Beach, which we loved back then. Lamai Beach offers higher-end accommodations.
