The Caribbean Sea is the only way to enjoy a Caribbean vacation truly. It would be a shame not to dip a toe into the beautiful sapphire waters. We love luxury getaways, but we also like to experience great adventures.

We’ve assembled our eight favorite Caribbean Watersports to help you maximize your vacation.

Caribbean Island Watersports

We were amazed by the beautiful blue water constantly changing as we cruised through the West Indies. As we sat high up on the ship, you could see the colors change from light to dark as the depth of the sea changed in front of our eyes.

We sailed for two days to reach the southernmost islands. The moment we docked in port, we embarked on a thrilling water adventure with The Aquatic Riders.

Holbox, Mexico, and Utila in Honduras are the best Caribbean Islands for swimming with whale sharks.

Nothing is more magical than diving into the deep blue water off the coastline of Cancun and coming face-to-face with the biggest fish in the ocean.

Whale sharks may be huge, but they are gentle giants that feed on plankton. They may have huge mouths, but even if they did try to swallow you, they wouldn’t be able to. While whale sharks may seem to move slowly, it takes time to keep up with them.

You will need to swim fast to keep up with the whale sharks. I first swam with whale sharks in Utila, Honduras, while taking our divemasters. We swam again with them in Mexico, our most memorable water experience. See our experience swimming with whale sharks in Mexico.

Snorkeling Thunderball Grotto on The Exumas Bahamas

Thunderball from the James Bond series has been filmed here. Into the Blue too was filmed in this location! No wonder Hollywood is flocking to the Exuma Cays, Bahamas, for blockbuster films at Thunderball Grotto. Not only is it paradise, but also an adventure!

The best snorkeling we’ve ever done was diving through the holes in this hollow island. 

As you emerge from the cavern, you will be treated to a fantastic light display through the openings. The cave is stunning, but the underwater World makes it even more so. Sunbeams light up the coral reef, and colorful fish swim around it. It feels like you’re in a giant fish tank.

Shark Ray Alley, Belize

Shark Ray Alley, off the coasts of Ambergris Cay and Belize, is a must-see for anyone who has ever dreamed of interacting with sharks and rays. Belize is known for its scuba diving and the Blue Hole, but we found that swimming with nurse sharks and the glow was one of the most exciting and uplifted experiences we have ever had.

The nurse sharks love to interact with humans, and the rays swim up to snorkellers to let them touch their wingspan.

Shark Ray Alley is still home to many sharks and rays that have been attracted by fishermen for years cleaning their catch.

Under the sea, there are not only sharks and Rays but also colorful fish like Barracuda and clownfish.

Our guide told us: “Forget about fish burgers; meet my friends, and imagine sharks and other fish differently.“. It’s real!

We noticed that the fish had personalities. We felt the same way. They were a playful and complete joy.

SUP Grand Cayman Island

Seven Mile Beach is the best place to find calm, flat water. Seven Mile Beach is the perfect place to get on board and explore the turquoise water.

Cayman Islands – Cozumel Mexico – Bonair

You can scuba dive all over Mexico. However, we have a list of our favorites. The Cayman Islands is also famous for its scuba diving! You can also do shore dives in the Cayman Islands. The Grand Cayman wall is 1800m/6000ft high.

We can confirm that Jacques Cousteau proclaimed Cozumel the best dive site in the World. The crystal clear water, the underwater Palancar Gardens with their swim-through arches, and colorful fish, coral, and marine life are all there. This was one of our most memorable scuba diving trips.

Bonaire is a professional diver who visits this island annually for a good reason.

Aquatic Riders Dominican Republic

Our list of Caribbean watersports is full of silly fun. We stopped at La Romana Dominican on our cruise and signed up for the Aquatic Riders Adventure, which looked to be the most exciting adventure in the Caribbean.

It was a great experience to drive your own Zodiac in the crashing waves.

It’s a peaceful and relaxing trip. The adventure starts when you reach the mouth of the river, which is the Caribbean Sea. Everyone revs their engines to face the pounding surf.

The aquatic riders are perfect for surfing the waves. You can bounce along the coast and enjoy the ride.
