BRISBANE: WHAT TO DO – EVERYTHING You Need To Know

BRISBANE: WHAT TO DO – EVERYTHING You Need To Know

Are you looking for activities in Brisbane? This is the place for you. We’ve heard fantastic things about Brisbane and were eager to visit the sunny city after three trips to Australia.

Brisbane is one of our favorite places in Australia. It runs along the Brisbane River. We’re done with Sydney! Brisbane’s subtropical climate is a great place to visit at any time of year. Everyone enjoys spending time outside looking great and having fun. We thought it would be fun to compile all the fun things that we did while exploring Brisbane, the capital of Queensland.

Things to Do in Brisbane

Story Bridge Climb

The Story Bridge in Brisbane is as iconic as Sydney’s Harbour Bridge. Without it, the city wouldn’t be what it is today. It’s breathtaking to see the sunset from Wilson’s Lookout in New Farm, but climbing to the top is even more beautiful.

The day was filled with climbing, and although it was less thrilling than the CN Tower EdgeWalk EdgeWalk, it was a great adventure. Many people on tour were nervous about the height, but they had fun once they got up there. This is a great way to view the city’s layout and the river that runs through it. Visit the Story Bridge Climb website for more information.

Outdoor Adventures with Riverlife

It was great fun to go on a Segway tour around Kangaroo Point. Riverlife also offers many other activities. You can go abseiling or rock climbing at Kangaroo Point Cliffs. There are also opportunities to paddle board, stand-up paddle board (SUP), and kayak. Brisbane’s life is centered on the river, so get out there and join the locals to enjoy the outdoors on the water.

Explore the South Bank

Brisbane’s cultural center is the South Bank. You will find the Brisbane Convention Centre and Maritime Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Science Centre, and Art Galleries. It is worth spending at least a day exploring.

It’s home to many museums and galleries, but it’s also great for a walk along the river to take in the city views and get ice cream. You can even ride the Ferris Wheel to get a bird’s-eye view of Brisbane. Enjoy Australian Cities?

Coot-Tha Mountain Scenic View

After we had a drink at The Whickam, one of Brisbane’s oldest bars, Anthony from TheTravelTart recommended visiting Coot-tha Mountain. I’m so glad he did. The views are spectacular, and there is a cafe at its top.

You can stop at the Botanical Gardens on your way up and down. It’s Queensland’s most famous subtropical garden. A Koala sanctuary is also available. It can be hard to spot Koalas in the wild. However, 130 Koalas are kept at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Even a koala can be cuddled.

Getting Around Brisbane

City Hopper, The City Hopper, is an unpaid ferry service between Sydney Street and North Quay. Enjoy a scenic view from the comfort of your vehicle. The City Cat is a river taxi that runs between one end of the city and the other. It is perfect for after-hours. It was easy to take it home from the bar located from Pier 1 to Pier 2.

Car rental: Brisbane can be walked around, but renting a car allows you to explore all the sights. You can rent a car to visit the beach or explore the area.

Free Brisbane Greeter Tour

Are you looking for things to do around Brisbane? You can take a free Greeter walking tour to discover hidden treasures. Completely free time is the best!

A group of volunteers runs the Brisbane Greeter Tour. They share their favorite stories and tips about Brisbane. With Rob Cochrane, our greeter, we had a lot of fun learning about Brisbane’s past.

Brisbane Powerhouse

The Brisbane Powerhouse hosts comedy shows and outdoor theatre. The patio bar is a great spot to enjoy the sunset with your friends. The Brisbane Powerhouse is in a beautiful setting by the river, with parks and paths featuring clever signs of poetry or humor.

Queen Street Mall

Queen Street Mall, a pedestrian street with many restaurants and shopping arcades, is great for outdoor fun. You can spend an afternoon exploring more than 700 shops and historic World Heritage-listed arcades. It is hard to believe people were not allowed to eat outside in Brisbane in the 1990s. However, many outdoor cafes and patios today provide the perfect environment for people to watch.

Eagle Street Pier

Eagle Street Pier is the best spot for nightlife and dining. This is the perfect spot to spend the night, with stunning views of the Story Bridge. This is the ideal spot to enjoy the view and share a few drinks with friends, as it has pleasant weather all year.

The City Cat pulls up at the Eagle Street Pier, so it is a quick boat ride to your destination. If you’re looking for activities outside of Brisbane, Brisbane is in Queensland.

Beaches Of Brisbane

Brisbane is only an hour away from the Gold Coast, but there are many beaches nearby that you can visit. We visited the following:

Nudgee Beach

Nudgee Beach, in a suburb of Brisbane, is the nearest beach to Brisbane. It is located just 18km (11 mi) from downtown. This spot is perfect for sunrise photography, as the mangroves reflect in the water.

Wellington Point

Wellington Point is an excellent beach for swimming and sunbathing. Low tide allows people to walk along the sandbar from King Islan. It’s an ideal day trip for sun and sand. Plenty of cafes and dining options keep you satiated throughout the day.

Brisbane Riverwalk

The Brisbane Riverwalk runs from New Farm to the Howard St Wharves and the Brisbane CBD. You can take a walk, hire a bike, or relax and enjoy the views while you enjoy a picnic. Are you looking to tour Australia for a bit? An exciting stop is Kangaroo Island.

Brisbane: Where to Eat

The lucky couple, we often get to dine at the most amazing places in the city. Our waistlines prove it! We loved Brisbane’s delicious meals. Here are some of our favorites.
