Mount Everest is the mother of all mountains. We are, in our way, following Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Noragy.

The Mount Everest Base Camp is lined with stupas and prayer banners.

It is impossible not to feel excitement when hiking in the Mount Everest region. The mountain has been a magnet for adventurers and legends for many decades.

Everest is sacred for the Nepalese, and you must respect this mountain when trekking the EBC. In the mountains, prayer flags carry wisdom and words through the air.

Want to climb more mountains? View our experience on Mount Kinabalu, Borneo.

There are prayer wheels along the way and a monastic monastery where the monks bless climbers and trekkers.

Sherpas Of Mount Everest Base Camp

Tenzing Norgay is known to everyone who has heard of Mt. Tenzing Norgay is a name that everyone who has ever heard of Mt. Tenzing Norgay was the first Sherpa to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak, along with Sir Edmund Hillary.

Since then, countless Sherpas have sacrificed their lives to carry food, supplies, and clients up this mountain.

Dave found some old photos on his computer that perfectly represent the day.

What is a Sherpa?

The load doesn’t lighten if you go higher.

We had our own Shir as our porter during our trek to Everest Base Camp. He was not a Sherpa. Sherpa refers to an ethnic group in Tibet.

Sherpas are people from Nepal; only those born into this tribe can call themselves Sherpas.

Porters perform many of the same tasks as sherpas but can never be called one.

This is a tribute to all the men and women who have made the treks in the Himalayas possible for everyone.

Pictures Of Of Everest Base Camp Yaks

Yaks are this close.

Our Mount Everest Base Camp Adventure was only complete if we had to dodge the Yak Trains that traveled the Himalayan trails at least twice or thrice.

Yak Trains are everywhere, carrying equipment to Base Camp.

The woolly friend’s transport supplies to the many small towns scattered across this mountain range.

These guys are essential to those who want to summit and trek. With them, they would be supplied.

Be very careful when you come across a train of yaks on the mountain. They charge through.

It would help if you always gave yaks plenty of space when they pass by.
