THINGS YOU CAN DO IN ZAKYNTHOS GREECE

Are you looking for the best activities to do in Zakynthos? We’ve compiled a Zakynthos travel guide with the help of Dejan Kvrgic (also known by its Italian name Zante) to help you plan! Like all Greek Islands, Zakynthos is stunning but has a different side. It offers a unique value you may have yet to expect when browsing the brochures.

Zante (also known as Zakynthos) is a Greek Island in the Ionian Sea, located off the coast of Peloponnese on the Greek mainland. The third largest Ionian island is growing in popularity every year.

Zakynthos Greece: Things to Do

Zakynthos has a reputation as a party destination. The island is a great place to party all day long. What do you do when you want to have fun in the sun and enjoy beautiful beaches with cocktails at the pool? Zakynthos, of course.

Zakynthos holidays have become a popular alternative to Santorini and Crete. My island has many attractions, so I want to tell you why you should visit this year.

Blue Caves – Amazing Scenery.

The Blue Caves are one of the most popular things to do on Zakynthos. The Blue Caves are a series of natural arches carved by erosion. They are known for their vivid blue color in the deepest hollows. You can see the deep blue by boat in the early morning or go snorkeling.

Hire a private boat, or tour the famous sites along the coast. You can choose between scuba diving or snorkeling. Scuba diving enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the 400 caves on the island. They are also great for snorkeling, swimming, and sightseeing by boat.

At least one boat trip is required to discover the beauty of Zante.

Navagio Beach – Shipwreck Beach

This cove, located northeast of Zakynthos, is surrounded by rocks 900 feet high. Navagio Beach is the most popular thing to do on Zakynthos. It gives me chills every time I see the fantastic view.

Shipwreck Beach is only accessible by boat. You can arrange a private tour of Smuggler’s Cove.

Shipwreck on the Beach

A large shipwreck washed up on the beach’s white sands after it ran from the authorities. Authorities chased an alleged smuggler boat in 1980 that was sailing near the coast of the Ionian Sea.

The ship is an old Scottish ship dating back to 1937, adding to the scene’s character.

The white sand, a decomposed white chalk from the large rocks surrounding it, attracts thousands of tourists daily during the summer.

View Of Navagio Beach

You can get the best photos from the lookout at the top of the cliffs. You can reach this view by van or car. In the summer, it’s busy but off-season this is a place of natural wonders that will give you chills.

Even professional base jumpers and skydivers come to Navagio Beach every year to jump off the 200-meter-high cliffs.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling, the most popular sport in Zakynthos, is football (as well as a professional club) and is one of the most exciting and adventurous activities a visitor to Zante can do.

You can embark on a diving adventure, whether a beginner or an experienced diver. The waters surrounding the main island, Zakynthos, are crystal clear. Many sea caves will lure you in for one of the most fantastic snorkeling experiences.

You can book a glass-bottom boat tour if you don’t want to snorkel. These tours

Loggerhead Sea Turtles Of Laganas Bay

The island of Zante is one of the best places in the world to see the famous Loggerhead turtle. (Caretta-Carreta Turtle)

Zakynthos, a nesting ground for the loggerhead turtles and where they lay their eggs on many of its beaches, is protected by Zante authorities. Tourists are not allowed to visit nesting turtles because Zante authorities defend them. When turtles are present on the beach, it is prohibited to visit. There are also some restrictions between Laganas Beach and Kalamaki Beach.

This considerable turtle is not only gentle but also significant. You can see it swimming in Laganas Bay. You can see the Caretta-Caretta turtle while snorkeling or diving on Zakynthos. You will get goosebumps when you visit a Caretta-Caretta turtle.

Turtle Island – Marathonisi

If you do not want to snorkel, you can also see turtles in a glass-bottom boat. Glass-bottom boat tours stop at the island’s sandy beach to enjoy.

Keri Caves

Keri Caves are located just outside Zakynthos Town. The caves are a popular place to visit for scuba divers. Snorkeling in the Keri caves is one of the most popular things to do on Zante. The white sea cliffs rise from the clear azure waters, making this a lovely day trip.
