Please pack a lunch and go outside to find a section of the Bruce Trail we haven’t yet explored. We’ve got more ideas for day trips in Ontario!

We shared our top weekend getaways from Toronto the other day. Today we are sharing some ideas for day trips from Toronto. These trips can be done in a single day and will take you back to Toronto and get you into bed for a restful night.

Toronto: Easy Day Trips

How to Get Around Ontario

A car is required for most day trips to Toronto. A vehicle is needed for most day trips to Toronto.

We rented a car when we didn’t own wheels. You can view the rental prices.

Milton

We love to go to Milton on a day trip from Toronto. It’s only 40 minutes away from Toronto and offers many activities. You can access the Kelso Conservation area via the Niagara Escarpment, where you’ll find an excellent snowshoe hill and snowboarding spot.

Kelso is a great place to mountain bike in the summer. To get started, you can park in the parking lot at the top. We made that rookie mistake when we first started biking here.

It is located on the Bruce Trail and offers excellent hiking. It’s great because the Lime Kiln trail does not allow mountain bikes.

Rattlesnake Point, Mount Nemo

Rock climbers will find some of the most popular routes at Mount Nemo and Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area. We could check out the courses at Rattlesnake Point and move on to Nemo once we have completed those within our limits. These routes are also close to Milton.

You don’t need to have any experience in lead climbing. Book a course at On the Rocks. They were used back when we first learned how to rappel and toprope.

Hamilton Waterfalls

Hamilton is filled with stunning waterfalls! Who would have thought? Hamilton is a popular day trip from Toronto because of this.

Spend a day hiking to see the waterfalls. Webster Falls and Albion Falls are some of Hamilton’s most beautiful waterfalls. Tews Falls is another. There are over 100 waterfalls in the Hamilton region, so take a day trip from Toronto to see them all!

  • 1 hour from Toronto
  • You will need to make appointments to visit the trails in Ontario after this great pandemic. This is a good thing. The courses have become overcrowded in recent years. If you want to see the Hamilton waterfalls, book ahead.

Spencer Gorge Conservation Area

Spencer Gorge Conservation Area, located in Hamilton, is one of the best spots in Ontario to see fall colors. It is well-known. It’s busy! It is active, but Dundas Peak provides the best views in the area.

Although it is on the Hamilton Waterfalls List, it deserves its place. You can follow the Niagara Escarpment from Tews Falls to Tews Falls and climb to Dundas Peak to see Hamilton and Dundas. Spend some time exploring Hamilton and Dundas after your hike. There are many things to do.

Blue Mountain

Although it’s quite a distance from Toronto at two hours, Dave and I have only driven up to Blue Mountain Village many times. Blue Mountain is a great place to snowboard in winter. In summer, you can also enjoy mountain biking and hiking. You can spend time in Blue Mountain Village, enjoying an ice cream cone or Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Blue Mountain offers a lot of entertainment, including the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster and a Zipline. There is also a golf course.

Scenic Caves Collingwood

One of our first day trips from Toronto to the Scenic Caves was in Collingwood. You can either book an adventure with Scenic Caves Eco Adventures or a self-guided tour.

The journey to these scenic caves is only half the adventure. You will also need to cross Ontario’s longest suspension span. You can also zipline if you book an experience!

Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain

For the Scandinave Spa, it’s worth driving up to Collingwood. The Scandinave Spa offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It features outdoor hot pools, saunas, steam rooms, and waterfalls. Enjoy a day in a spa that Niagara Escarpment surrounds.

Learn to Dirt Bike at Ganaraska Forest (about an hour and ten minutes from Toronto).

You can take a dirt biking course if you’re looking for a day trip from Toronto. It doesn’t matter if you have experience with dirt biking. By the end of the day, you can jump over logs and zip through forests effortlessly.

Ferris Provincial Park

A visit to Ranney Gorge Suspension bridge in Ferris Provincial Park, near Cambleford, is an excellent choice if you want a suspension bridge experience.
