VICTORIA FALLS – ZAMBIA: INCREDIBLE Things to Do

VICTORIA FALLS – ZAMBIA: INCREDIBLE Things to Do

Victoria Falls, Zambia, was one of our dreamiest travel destinations. Zambia surprised us. Victoria Falls is known as the adventure capital of Africa. There are many activities to keep your heart pumping.

While cycling through Zambia from Cairo to Cape Town, I remembered how lush and green it was.

I remember riding across its high plateau and seeing trees as far as my eyes could see. It was a fantastic trip, and I will never forget riding to Livingstone, Zambia, to see Victoria Falls.

I had yet to learn what to expect before we visited the falls. I thought, “Hey, I live near Niagara Falls. How much better can Victoria Falls possibly be?”

Victoria Falls: Best Things to Do

Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world by volume, is located within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. This makes for an unforgettable stay. It is a beautiful sight, but the adventure makes it a dream vacation.

If you only have a few days in Livingston, these are the top things to do.

Gorge Swing

The Spectacular Gorge, over 100m in depth and 350m wide, was carved by the raging Zambezi River over millions of years. You can soar above the gorge, abseil in it, or jump off it.

Zambezi Gorge Swing is sure to get your adrenaline going.

Helicopter Flight

You can only truly appreciate the scale and scope of Victoria Falls when you see it from above.

We rode a thrilling helicopter ride through the gorge to the top of the falls.

We can see why they compare it to whitewater rafting. We bumped and turned and twisted around.

The ride was thrilling, but the payoff at the end was spectacular. We saw Victoria Falls in all its glory.

Microlight Flight

A microlight flight is a perfect adventure to make your hair stand on end. The wind will rip your hair as you enjoy this way of sightseeing. It’s as close to feeling like a bird as it gets. As you soar above Victoria Falls, you can hear its roar.

Victoria Falls Walk

Anyone’s heart will pound when they walk next to Victoria Falls. As you enter the Victoria Falls National Park, some trails take you to the face of the falls.

It is thrilling to be so close to the roaring water. You can walk over a narrow, rocky bridge.

You are so close to these falls that the bridge is covered in fog and mist. After you cross the bridge, you can explore the trails and paths which wind through a small patch of land opposite the falls. It will be visible from different angles.

Visit David Livingstone

I assume that you are Dr. Livingstone. David Livingstone brought Victoria Falls to the world.

The Native People in Zambia knew of the Smoke That Thunders and Dr. Livingstone used guides from The Makololo for navigation.

Visit Livingstone Island, located at the edge of Victoria Falls. This is where Livingstone and his guides first landed in 1855.

Low-season tours include a trip on a twin-engine power boat to the island.

Devil’s Pool

Devil’s Pool is accessible from Livingston Island.

You can sit in Devil’s Pool at the top of Victoria Falls when the water level is low and watch the crashing water curtain.

Zambezi Sun Hotel

Zambezi Sun Hotel, Victoria Falls, is located close to the hotel.

We had an excellent breakfast buffet before we sneaked into the park. The gate guard was given a fake number in our room. I doubt you can do that.

You can swim in their Pool and see wild zebras, giraffes, and other animals roaming the grounds. This was a real treat for us, who were camping in Zambia.

Chobe National Park: Take a Safari

Chobe National Park, just a few minutes from Victoria Falls, is one of the best places to go on safari.

The river safari is a popular attraction. You can watch the animals on the river come alive as the sun sets.

Whitewater Rafting

Victoria Falls is the perfect place to go whitewater rafting.

The Zambezi River is filled with rapids for classes 3 to 5. This is one of the most thrilling whitewater runs on the planet, so be sure to take the challenge.
