10 OF THE MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACES IN THE PHILIPPINES
With its lush greenery, limestone cliffs towering above the water and clear blue waters, the Philippines are one of Asia’s most Instagram-worthy places. The Philippines is known for its beautiful scenery and friendly people. They also have a fascinating culture and delicious food. These are our top 10 Instagram hotspots, which will inspire your followers to follow your lead and plan their epic journey through the islands.
UNDERGROUND RIVER PUERTO PRINCESA
It’s no surprise that the Underground River in Puerto Princesa was named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature 2012, and it’s easy for anyone to understand why. A short boat ride will take you to the entrance of the caves. You will be greeted by lush jungle and incredible limestone rock formations there. After a brief boat ride, you’ll get off the boat to embark on a short trek. Monkeys will swing from the trees above you before reaching the entrance to the underground river. Hot tip: Monitor lizards are common in the area.
PHOTO TIP – Inside the caves, it will be too dark for you to take photos, so relax and enjoy the moment! This is the place to get a photo for the ‘gram.
EXOTIC ISLAND PORT BARTON
The name of this island suggests that it is exotic. This island is perfect for lunch or a photo stop, with clear blue waters and jungle island vibes. Depending on the tide, you can walk or swim to an island nearby. We recommend taking a stroll around the island’s other side. You will find a quiet beach that will make it feel like you are on Lost.
PHOTO TIP: The best way to get to the other side is by walking up and over the island. You’ll find yourself on the other shore under a canopy made of palm trees. The pure white sand will delight any photographer.
TURTLE POINT PORT BARTON
This is the perfect spot to take a photo with a sea turtle in its natural habitat. You’ll find many sea turtles on this little stretch of water between two islands. You can swim alongside them in the clear seawater and watch their behaviour. You might also see Nemo or their friends if you’re lucky.
PHOTO TIP – Hand your GoPro to a local guide and ask them to take a picture of you behind the turtle. They are great at taking amazing underwater photos while still respecting the turtles and keeping them away!
OUR PRIVATE PORT BARTON BEACH CAMP
Our Philippines tour includes a night on a private island. This is a great place to unwind and relax as we eat dinner, play volleyball, and lounge. Its wooden treehouse is a worthy place to be featured on your feed. What’s the best part? The best part? It also comes with its swing!
PHOTO TIP – Every corner of this island has a photo opportunity. Get out your camera and start shooting!
BIGAHO FALLS PORT BARTON
A short boat ride and a 20-minute hike through the lush Philippine jungle will take you to the stunning Bigaho Falls. Beautiful waterfall with a swimming pool at its bottom. It is the perfect place to cool off in hot weather and doubles up as a great spot for taking pictures.
PHOTO TIP – After taking a refreshing dip, take some photos on the beach. The white sand beach is among the most beautiful we have ever seen. You’re likely to be the only one here because this spot isn’t very popular.
ZIPLINE, EL NIDO
Do you dream of ziplining between two islands? This is your chance. This amazing zipline will take you above Maremegmeg Beach (also known as Las Cabanas) and offer stunning views of the turquoise waters below and distant tropical islands. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the zipline.
PHOTO TIP – Don’t bring your camera or phone on the zipline unless there is a handle or a way for you to attach it to your wrist. The guys at the zipline will take your photos as you fly towards them at the end. You can purchase one for a very affordable price to remember this moment forever.
CANOPY WALK and EL NIDO
We loved the canopy walk in El Nido. You will find a viewing platform with panoramic views that last for days as you walk through the forest canopy on the Taraw Cliff. You will be wearing a helmet and a harness for safety as climbing is not difficult. You’ll reach the top after swinging rope bridges, climbing rocks and reaching the top. You’ll be astonished by the amazing views of the beach below and all the boats in the ocean. It will feel like you are on a film set.
PHOTO TIP – Once again, the legendary local guides will be there for you. They’ll take incredible photos of you and your friends with El Nido bay in the background.
SUNSETS (LITERALLY ANYWHERE).
You will be amazed at the amazing colours that the skies display at sunset. This is a beautiful country. You’ll be able to see the sky turn pink or purple here at any time of the day, no matter where your location is.
Photo tip: This one is almost a secret… The sun should set simultaneously as it does every other day, but the sun must stay up for 20 minutes beyond the horizon. Trust us, and this is when the sky lights up and turns magical.
PINAGBUYUTAN ILAND, EL NIDO
This is one of our favourite islands! Locals call this spot Lover’s Island. This spot is unique because of the limestone cliff that towers over the white sand. Between the cliffs and the beach is a large grass that blows in the wind, creating an amazing setting for those who step off the boats. According to insider information, this is the location where many seasons of Survivor were filmed. Take some pictures and get creative to keep your memories of this place fresh.
TIP: Take some photos with the long grass framing your camera. It’s one of the few places like it, so you’ll get a unique shot of your island-hopping adventures.
NACPAN BEACH, EL NIDO
After a fun tour, this is the perfect spot to take a break and relax for a few days. It’s a wonderful place to relax, swim, and eat. We highly recommend this beach area. For a boho backpacker experience, stay at Mad Monkey. Or visit Angela Beach Club to add a touch of luxury to your adventure.
PHOTO TIP Angela Beach Club boasts an infinity pool that overlooks the beach. For a Bali-esque vibe, you can head here to grab a few cocktails and take some amazing photos.
